Fabulous Friday

I spent an amazing day in the West End with my sister on Friday.  We mooched around Oxford Street (spending a ridiculous amount of time in Selfridges), had a lovely lunch and then took in the matinee of Avenue Q.  This was the first time I've seen Avenue Q and I absolutely loved it.  I'm so sad that it's run is just about to end and I won't be able to go back.  If you have the chance to go I definitely recommend it but bear in mind that it won't be to everyone's taste.

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels like this but I find I just can't shop Oxford Street like the pro I am.  I always go with a mental list of things I want to check out but the minute I'm faced with the crush of people milling around I lose all focus.  That coupled with the fact that my sister just isn't into make up means I didn't spend that long at the beauty counters.  My interest was caught however, by the gorgeous Lulu Guinness 'metallic python lips' on display in Selfridges.  I can't say I wasn't tempted, but £225 on a teeny tiny clutch bag that's smaller than my purse is something even I couldn't justify.  Instead I spent a much smaller amount to get my little yellow bag and indulged in a Krispy Kreme chocolate dreamcake on the way home!  I'll do a separate post on what was inside my little yellow bag later!
Enjoy your day everyone I hope it was as good as mine!

When I was little I wanted to be...

a redhead.

Actually, part of me still does!  On the whole I'm pretty happy with my hair, admittedly I've had my share of bad haircuts but I've never been someone who experimented by reaching for a box of hairdye.  That doesn't mean I don't suffer from the grass is always greener syndrome (doesn't everyone?)  In fact, I spent a large part of my childhood dreaming about having red hair.

At this point I should admit that I didn't just want red hair - I wanted to BE Ariel.  But even without the awesomeness of the Little Mermaid there were plenty of other redheads for my childhood self to envy.

I loved Jane Fonda as cute and quirky Corie in Barefoot in the Park on Sunday afternoon movie reruns

Isla Fisher as Shannon Reed made me run home from school to watch Home and Away

Marina Anissina and her partner Gwendal Peizerat were my favourite Ice Dance couple famous for their equal opportunities lifts and their striking appearance on the ice

And just for fun (read: I am deadly serious and this is the nearest rival to Ariel in my mind) Maid Marian - the Fox version

Is it too early or too late?

I know this is widely premature but with the British weather so gloomy at the moment summer seems like a distant memory.  As A/W begins filling the shops I can't help but think Christmas is only just around the corner.  With this in mind I've started compiling a little list to help Santa get organised this year (in no particular order).

pink bobble hat and floral umbrella - accessorize
pearl t-bar pumps - topshop
Valentine's Day on  DVD
naked palette - urban decay
long heart necklace - alice eden @ the shopfloorproject
nokia c3 in arctic white

and then there's a few fantasy picks....
Marc by Marc Jacobs linda clutch
Lulu Guiness continental purse in stone

is it too late to start being nice instead of naughty?

Style Crush - edition one

I've been rewatching loads of old movies recently and top of the list was Breakfast at Tiffany's.  No-one does the LBD like Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly.  Most girls swoon over the iconic opening sequence - pearls, shades and window shopping at Tiffany's, but there are so many amazing fashion moments in the film - it really is a must watch for the fashion obsessed.

I've been a Haulin'

Considering this blog is called 'missiheartmakeup' I have yet to actually post anything make-up related.  So what better time to unveil my latest (and very modest haul).  My shopping trip in general was a massive fail. :(  But say hello to this little beauty.
Mac Plink!

As soon as I heard that Plink! was discontinued in North America I knew I had to try it - after all it's surely only a matter of time before it disappears from Mac in the UK.  The shade has received so many positive reviews and is in my prefered colour family of wearable pinks.  Here's a swatch if you're interested
First impressions are really good - this is my first lustre finish from Mac and although it hasn't replaced Hue as my all time favourite lipstick, it's still a colour I can feel comfortable wearing everyday!  What are the products you wish hadn't been discontinued?

The Best Things in Life - edition one

When I started this blog I didn't really think about the direction I wanted it to go in.  I am a total make-up junkie so I thought I'd start there and hope for the best!  After a few months deliberation I've decided not just to blog about make-up but to share some of my other loves (and loathes) with you.  In honour of this momentous decision welcome to what I hope will become a regular feature over the next few months - the best things in life.  From the little to the wildly expensive these are the things that make me happy!!!

Up first ...
